Young People

IMPACT

We work in partnership with IMPACT, to provide alternative curriculum support for young people aged 14-16 for whom mainstream education does not provide a suitable environment to motivate their learning. We provide opportunities to develop functional skills, vocational skills and personal/social skills in a safe, relaxed learning environment.

AC Rooms

In the AC (Alternative Curriculum) Room, our young people focus on their GCSE Maths, English, ICT and Science. In addition, they achieve Functional Skills in Maths and English and gain extra qualifications in, for example, ICT through the AQA Awards Scheme. The AC rooms are also used for social and personal development, sexual health training, preparation for post-16 (college and job applications etc.) and any other information, advice or guidance that is required.

Skills room

In the skills room, our young people work on projects that have a vocational skills theme, for example, plumbing, decorating, DIY skills, etc. These taster courses can lead to an accredited qualification (BTec Vocational Skills) and are designed to be fun and encourage an interest in post-16 vocational courses and apprenticeships at college.
